MARIANTONIA GOMEZ-BOTERO

Hand-drawn letterforms

Lepida is a character set of letterforms with ancient Roman proportions developed completely by hand using brush and black and white plaka at a scale of 6 inches tall (15.25cm). The process began with pencil studies in spacing and form, then transformed into studies with brush and India ink, and then the final set of letterforms were based on those ink studies.

The letterforms were then introduced into Adobe Illustrator for resizing and further studies.
